MIKE TYO at the CLAYTON OPERA HOUSE
August 17 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm$20.00
Join us for an evening of great music performed by our very own Mike Tyo on organ joined by Rick Badour.
Mike was born in Watertown, NY. He entered the world like most healthy babies do, except that he was born totally blind. Mike showed a very strong interest in music at a young age; in fact, he began playing on a toy piano at the age of two. After graduation from South Jeff, he enrolled in the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Organ Performance. Mike continues to perform concerts as well as participate in events to help in various fund raising activities for Adams United Methodist Church along with other nonprofit agencies, including the Disabled Persons Action Organization, and the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Northern New York.
Mr. Badour is a native of the St. Lawrence River growing up in Fishers
Landing. He is a 1979 graduate of Thousand Islands Central School where he studied trumpet and voice. Mr. Badour furthered his education attending Onondaga Community College in Syracuse and SUNY Fredonia, receiving a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1983. His masters work was completed at SUNY Oswego in 1986.
Mr. Badour has recently retired from Belleville Henderson Central School District where he taught instrumental music for 33 years.
Some of his performances include vocal recitals at the Clayton Opera House and performances with the Clayton Community Band. He is a founding member of the Clayton Community Band as a trumpet player and has been the conductor for the past 5 years. Mr. Badour and his family are members of the Adams United Methodist church choir, which is where he and Mike Tyo reconnected after originally meeting in high school at Bi-County Music Festivals many years ago.
