WHITE CANE DAY

October 13 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

FREE

Please join us for White Cane Day

ABVINNY will host an exhibit and demonstrations to increase awareness and education about White Cane Day from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Salmon Run Mall.

White Cane Day is a annual event recognized on October 15th. ABVINNY is hosting the local celebration to acknowledge the abilities of people who are blind and to promote equal opportunities as any other American.

Mayor Joseph M. Butler, Jr. will present a Proclamation recognizing White Cane Day on October 1, 2018 at the Watertown City Council Meeting.

The mission of White Cane Day is to educate the world about blindness and how the blind and visually impaired can live and work independently while giving back to their communities, to celebrate the abilities and successes achieved by blind people in a sighted world, and to honor the many contributions being made by the blind and visually impaired.

Please stop by our tables at the Salmon Run Mall. There will be demonstrations on Assistive Technology, along with different Adaptive Aids to help individuals with vision impairment to perform in their daily activities. There will be face painting for the kids and a Guided Blind Cane walk to give those with sight a little “insight” into the world of visual impairment/legal blindness.
